Daisuke Kikuchi

4th Generation Head, Nishinouchigami / Kaminosato (Founded in 1972)

After completing design school and working in the event industry, Daisuke Kikuchi took over his family’s traditional papermaking business. He conducts workshops at his studio, offering hands-on papermaking experiences. Kikuchi has been featured on media outlets such as NHK, TBS, and BS12, and in various newspapers. He uses 100% "Nasu Kozo" from Hitachi-Omiya, designated as an intangible cultural property of Ibaraki Prefecture, to craft strong and elegant Nishinouchi paper using traditional methods. Kikuchi also creates modern products like fans, drawstring bags, cushions, and tapestries, which showcase the unique texture and durability of washi as both functional items and interior decorations.
