Takako Matsui (T.)

HANABI

Japanese maple, Acrylic paint, Liquid glue, Canvas
24 x 18 in

About the work

The gorgeous shaped real leaves of Japanese maple often planted in gardens around New Jersey are represented as fireworks, against a background of indigo gradation in the night sky, with the design of a kimono in mind.

Fireworks have been popular in Japan for a long time. Large flowers decorating the night sky were launched all over Japan on the first day of the Olympics scheduled to brighten up the uncertain future and encourage people.
