About the work
Pure silver okimono (sculpture) of a minogame, the legendary long-tailed tortoise that lives for 10,000 years, a sign of good fortune for longevity. Length 5 inches (12.7 cm), engraved signature Ryuki, late Meiji period. The artist Nogami Ryuki (1865-1932) of Tokyo made works for Imperial presentation and exhibited at the great World's Fairs of the era.
