A wide variety of landscape patterns were used on Japan’s modern export porcelain, and there are many different ways to describe them. For example, landscape designs, scenic patterns, and trees in a meadow. This piece features an elaborate landscape with a central river gorge surrounded by ornate lapis lazuli decoration among these various landscape designs. Like a piece of Sèvres porcelain, all these elements combine to give this piece a luxurious and sophisticated look.
