[Inscription] Early Maruki Mark
[Year of Manufacture] 1900 – 1915 (approx.)
A tea set for two, intended for export to the United Kingdom. The bases of each of these pieces are called pedestals, and they feature thin, elaborate shapes. Extensive decorative work was applied inside the cup rather than around its exterior, and this feature also required a particular technique. Additionally, a rare technique called “jewel” was used to create jewel-like ornaments prominent on each piece. Exceedingly high levels of the creative process can be seen everywhere.
