CeramicsAbout the work
[Inscription] SEIFŪ Yohei III
[Year of Manufacture] 1889-1912
Among the works of SEIFŪ Yohei III, this piece represents quite a rare example of Western tableware. Another copy of the same piece is in the possession of the British Museum, and both were originally part of the same set. Although this piece was made in the Western style, its Clematis theme is exceedingly Japanese and provides a strong sense of the cultural fusion of east and west.
