About the work

KYUKOSHIGE is a round Yumihari Chochin passed down since the Edo period, and it is still used for festivals and ceremonies even today. Mr. Kichiya Tachibana, a Tachibana style YOSEMOJI calligrapher, will hand-write one character of your choice from "Beauty, Love, Peace, Shine, Dream" in kanji (Chinese character).

This is a special edition in which the handle is wrapped with rattan and comes in a paulownia wood box.

Kichiya Tachibana

Tachibana style yosemoji / Edomoji calligrapher

After six years of training under Master Tachibana Unokichi, a Tachibana style yosemoji and Edomoji calligrapher, he was recognized as a formal successor to the family in January 2017; granted the pen name "Kichiya Tachibana." Currently, in addition to traditional vaudeville turning and posters, he is also involved in logo design and brush cultivation of posters and souvenirs for the annual festival as a calligrapher who goes in and out of "Hitachinokunisoshagu," which is enshrined in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
