About the work
Kuniyoshi Utagawa (1798-1861) was one of the last masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting and a great cat lover. He created numerous whimsical works of cats. This is the piece that I painted as an homage to Kuniyoshi.
