About the work

The Hakata Dontaku Port Festival is a significant event for the people of Fukuoka. In the past, during the festival, people used to wear papier-mache masks and march through the streets. One of the popular masks was the "Hyottoko," which refers to a man who breathes fire to get rid of bad luck.
