About the work

Unsigned, Late Meiji period

Shichifukujin (Daikoku, Bishamon, Ebisu, Jurojin, Fukurokuju, Benzaiten, Hotei) is the name for seven Gods. When one worships them, they will get rid of seven difficulties, experience seven kinds of happiness. It started in the late Muromachi period. Its populism matched this and is still believed in present times.
