Opening Reception Report for Signs of Good Fortune

November 25, 2020

The Nippon Club WEB Gallery has been holding an exhibition introducing traditional crafts created from the Edo period to the Showa period, entitled "Signs of Good Fortune", as the 2nd special exhibition.

A virtual opening reception held from 7 pm to 7:45 pm on the first day of the exhibition (November 12). At the reception, Mr. Hidenori Takaoka, President of The Nippon Club and Ms. Susan Tosk, gave an opening address.

We had a mini-lecture entitled "The Good Luck and Beauty of Japanese Art" by Ms. Sachiko Hori, who supervises this exhibition. Ms. Hori is an expert on traditional crafts and also is familiar in appraisals on PBS's popular TV program "Antiques Roadshow". And there was the performance of shakuhachi and saxophone by arranger and multi-lead player Mr. Zach Zinger. He played pieces to make us feel happy and give us energy and courage.

It is still a tough situation, but we would appreciate it if you could share a good time while watching traditional crafts that bring good luck.
